Thread: What does the word Veraguas mean?

Where does this province get its name? What does the word Veraguas mean?

Well, you could break it down like: ver = to see, and aguas = waters, or ver from verdad = true. I imagine its some combo of those words, To see waters sounds like a decent translation.

I never though about what it means. Is it next to the ocean, because then Lalaguayaba's interpretation would make sense.

Oh, it's an isthmus. I guess it was silly anyway to ask if it was next to ocean, because almost every province is.
