    Panama Tourism Numbers

The Gov claims that 2 Million tourists are now arriving into the country each year. I just don't see it. In a country of 3.5 million people, 2million tourists will stick out quite obvious. Yet, when I walk around the city, I see few tourists.

As a real estate investor, I am quite knowledgeable about the market. I think the above number is a complete fabrication. These numbers are designed to induce more foreign investors, and will eventually cause a sever recession in Panama.

I agree. I cant imagine that number is right. Most foreigners i see, if any, are business people. And i hardly ever see full hotels/restaurants/bars etc. Its nonsense.

Not that this adds up to millions, but every cruise ship departure/port call in Colon is 2,000

Say each tourist stays 1 week. So 38,000 at any one time. Sounds plausible.

More lying and hyped garbage - getting the truth out of someone when money is at stake can be problematic.

I remember when Florida had a tourism industry there was no crime in Florida - obviously Panama is very similar and maintaining the lying track record.
