Need a rental on the Azuero Peninsula for Mid May

Hello all, My boyfriend, dog and I are due to arrive in panama mid May. We've been searching for a while to find a rental home on the Azuero Peninsula but not having much luck. We'd like to rent for at least 3 months while we shop for a home to purchase. We'd like to keep the rent to about $500 a month. We are very responsible people and take our dog with us pretty much anywhere we go. If anyone has a rental or can direct me to one, we'd sure appreciate it. Thank you very much, Christine

Any where between Chitre, to Las Tablas to Pedasi. Really, anywhere within about a 1/2 to an hour from the water. Thanks for responding.

My pleasure, I might be able to find something in Las Tablas or Pedasi? Your budget is fine, should be able to find something pretty easy. Do you prefer house or apartment or doesn't matter?

We have a dog so maybe a house makes more sense but we are open. We don't need anything big. It's just us 2 adults and our little dog. We are pretty easy. Thanks. You can email me direct if you'd like. xtine0311@yahoo.com.

Hi again, Just wanted to give you a little more detail. We'll probably arrive in Panama sometime around the 14th and plan to shop for a vehicle for about a week or so in the Panama City area. Once we have a vehicle we'll be headed to the Azuero Pen. So I'm thinking sometime around May 24th is when we'd be looking to start to rent. We can flexible though. I've been in touch with Dim's Hostel and they allow dogs so if need be we can stay there for a bit. I really appreciate your help. Thanks Again. Christine

Hello, thanks. I've actually emailed her already. She might have a bite on the house but the potential buyers may want to rent so we'll see. We are still looking so if you hear of anything please keep us in mind. Thanks again.

Anyone have any suggestions as to how I might approach something like this:

There are cottages on the water near Mariato (western Azuero) that I am told are owned mostly by Panamanians. I'm hoping to get an annual rental for January and February. Other areas might be fine too. I thought maybe I would make up a flyer and distribute them. But perhaps there are better ideas?

I would suggest that before you sign any kind of contract for a long term rental that you spend at least a week there. Some of these towns on the Azuero are small, out of the way, and are lacking some conveniences. For instance, Las Tablas is the last town on the East side of the Azuero to have real grocery stores and a hospital. In regards to that house in Pedasi I think this is the same one in question

I agree about staying for awhile first. Personally, I like Tonosi and the western Azuero.

Hey jonr, do you live in Tonosi? Would like to get the down-low on what is going on there.

I drove through Tonosi in November. Maybe I missed the town, but didn't see anything of interest.... I had a $2 lunch I think.

It is a nice area but you are getting pretty far out. I think Tonosi has a small grocery store and that's about it. A friend of mine just purchased in Cambutal. Give it a few more years and I think you will see the bottom of the Azuero develop.

Cambutal makes sense to me (I like remote areas). I don't live in Panama but am looking for property there. Here is a realtor in the area:

I have to say that I am stuck on the ROP issue - I prefer water front property, but almost all of it is currently ROP and this adds some risk. I may have to wait a couple of years until many of the ROP properties get titled and there is a good supply. Or start looking in Ecuador.

I personally feel that if you have a good attorney you should be fine but obviously no guarantee. Ecuador seems like a good option as well. It's a beautiful country and residency is cheap and easy. Problem is it is a little to leftist for my taste and I (personally) would not want to actually invest money into the country of Ecuador.

Re: Need a rental on the Azuero Peninsula for Mid May

Hi, I was reading your back and forth about your need of a rental in May, the reason that interested me is because I'm thinking about retiring to Panama sometime soon, I would like to know if when you get there if you wouldn't mind sending me some info on the rents that the area has, I've heard that alot are not advertisied but you can see rental signs and if you would just take notice or ask about something for rent you might see I sure would appreciate it, I know you don't know me from Adam but I'm a nice old guy and if we don't help each other out once inawhile............................ right, btw, I'm looking for a 1 or 2 bedroom place, and thank you in advance. Bob

Hi - This is one year after this thread started, but I am hoping you still feel like helping Azuero home seekers? I am currently living in (very expensive) Costa Rica and want to move to Panama. All that I have read indicates that Las Tablas and the Azuero Penninsula is where I would probably like it best. I'm looking for something small, furnished, light and bright in the el cheapo price range. Right now I pay $250, which would be fine if everything else here in CR didn't cost a young fortune. I totally love CR and the people here are wonderful, but I can't afford it. Plus I have special connection with Panama that I would like to renew. Am I dreaming or is housing in the Las Tablas area still available in my price range? If this isn't your line, could you perhaps tell me who might help me find something? I would like to move within a month or two. Thanks in advance.

two things , woohoo is not here anymore and you will not find anything for $250 a month unless you are willing to rent a house that has no windows , as in glass , no tile floors , no hot water , no real kitchen cabinets , you know a empty shell ,

By the way, I really unsure what the thinking was in having those front doors on the second floor!

yes i have driven by , its a gem LOL and as you can see in the second photo , you soon go mad out there with no internet or cell coverage and then in the third photo you leave your sandles on the beach so they know where to look for your body after you have slipped right off the deep end LOL

Good to hear from you finally! Maybe that's what he's looking for! Hide out in Panama!

Saying this is in Pedasi is a bit of a stretch, eh?
