    Morgages in Panama

Are the banks in Panama still being reluctant to write condo mortgages. Any insights would be appreciated.

I once contacted a 'mortgage broker' in Panama who advertised that they could obtain the best rates. They wanted 17% for a year..

    ha, 17%?!

anybody else care to share any rate quotes?

i'd definitely consider putting down 50%, but not for anywhere near that much.

To get a loan with Banco General in Panama your Triglycerine level has to be below 150:

Triglyceride - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Otherwise you cannot get life insurance in Panama with Banco General as the beneficary and therefore you would be unable to meet the requirements of the loan.

Make sure to complete a blood test before buying real estate in Panama.

Or if you are thinking of buying a unit at the developer's list price perhaps complete a sanity test.
