I assume you know about the trust situation related to the original investors. This is the only news for these people. Nothing else that I know about. If you are one of these investors, I know about an email group who try to keep people informed.
Go to: www.panamalister.com. Homes, lots, etc., are being sold. It seems things are starting up and moving along....
YES, "stray dogs" is a buying signal.
I am very bullish on Gorgona.
Also, drunk locals that cannot afford trash pickup AND black tar sand that never leaves your body for a "permanent" beach experience. DAT IS DA SIGNAL!

Their you mean. I don't invest in Panama and probably never will. It's a full time job to own a car and a motorcycle and deal with an apartment you are renting in Panama. The returns would need to VERY high before I put a dime into this dump.

Yes, Gorgona may not be everyone's "cup of tea". However, I like it and will be back in a couple of months. Love the locals, drunk or not, although to date I haven't seen any... Stray dogs...I've seen one so far and that was in Panama City. So...Trump Tower Trap just might be the answer for some. Cheers!

so, why are you here on a Panama Forum?
Malibu Beach screwed a on of people, so I would be very careful about that project. I would just buy a Private lot, on the ocean, or close to it. If you buy right, you will make money in Gorgona.
When you drive there there a few hundred lots close to the inter americana. I would say half of them are not maintained or just have some frame standing on there with no progress. There is no standard and people build from 10,000 to 400,000 on the same street. It looks like chaos and shit.
You will not make any money because there is NO WILL to go anywhere. Most of them probably just want to hang onto lots and wait for stupid foreigners to invest massive money so they can flip them without doing anything. Just like Casco Viejo - that resulted in the government saying that IF YOU DON'T FKN WORK WE TAKETH AWAY!!!
Gorgona will never be a vibrant community. Noone in this country will volunteer to pick up trash around a community pool - they will steal the shower heads though and leave all the empty beer bottles on the table. When you mix that with investing to flip instead of live you get worse than garbage on the other end.

Wow Ed....you sound bitter, negative and depressed. Or are you just having a bad day? If Panama is not what you like....maybe leave. Life is too short to be so bitter sounding. Panama is not perfect, however, some of us like it's quirks or at lease try to work with or around the quirks. Facts are great... only if they are not based on personal opinion. Have a great day Ed!

If I am within 10 days of having been to a government office in Panama, then it's best not to be around me.
Do you like spending 30 hours in 5 different offices to update a passport number on a car title?
Do you like to remind a landlord 40 times to get a job done for 30 bucks - you spend 1,200 dollar of your time organizing it?
Do you like to spend 3 days updating a passport number with a bank and have them erase every single payee in the process so you have to reconfigure your online banking from scratch?
Would you like to renew your motorcycle permit every 80 days since 2008 due to the FACT that the average Panamanian is the worst form of human garbage on earth?
You can find good people in any country on Earth, enough to live.
If you truly enjoy those "quirks" then Panama is for you.
Specifically what then? Are you saying there is a will to build a real community where people pull in the same direction and actually look out for each other? You going to teach people who make $250 a month to buy drawstring trash bags instead of using your ditch next to the house?
People will appear out of nowhere and remove their construction material they have left around for 15 years already?

If you ever care to do anything i Panama and go into a Municipio (several times of course so you get statistical significance) then you will understand that if the person in front of you dies, the corpse will do a better and more efficient job.
If you drive to Panama City from the beach at 9 PM you have 100 people blinding you with full headlights they refuse to turn off. If you drive at 6 PM you have 100 drunk people passing you in the emergency lane. It's just the way they are. I believe most foreigners here have heard it's better with 5 dollars today than 10 dollars tomorrow. It's more like, 10 cents today FOR ME is better even if the overall damage to someone else or society is 10,000 dollars. That's how they run.
Panama has its own rhythm.
Some get it,most do not.
