Do you think immigration laws will be modified?

As you know, residency rules were changed last summer, when it became more difficult to apply for different residency permits. For example the 40k visa for reforestration was completely removed and the solvencia economica was changed from $200k to 300k and right now you have to have it in a CD account for 3 years instead of 2(or invested in real estate or both).
So my question is , because of the world financial crisis, I don't think too many people are able to apply for these residency visas,so is there any chance that the Panamanian government will relax these rules and might go back to the older regulations?

It's possible, but if it's going to happen I think it'll take a little more 'bleeding' first.

The reforestation visas remain at the $60K & $80K levels.

Does anybody know how many people applied for the residency visas in 2008 compared to 2007?
I'm quite sure the number came down significantly.

Not likely, because Panama is only interested in attracting the filthy rich anyway, and they are largely unaffected by the crisis.

I don't believe that , sounds like you're in denial . Every country is affected except maybe China.

yaya, I think donalgodon was referring to the filthy rich not being affected by the economic crisis, he wasn't referring to Panama.
