Question New to the Forum need help starting a New Thread on IL

Hello All!

I'm thinking of visting and possibly relocating to Panama in the future. But I really wanted to start a thread to get feedback from those who have used International Living's services. Ex) Panama User's Guide, Panama Insider, and the Seminars hosted in Panama. I've heard some not so good comments from one person, but thought I'd ask others. I'd really like to visit in July for the seminar they are putting together then. Well that's all, for now, sorry for positng here, just need to find out how to start an appropriate thread to discuss IL users comments. Thanks

Take care,
LWT

Hi LoneWolfTrader, I personally am not familiar with International Living but if you are planning on moving to Panama I would suggest doing the research on your own. I personally would be wondering what International Living is trying to sell me?(Once again I am not familiar with that company). Spend some time in the forum and you will get ALLOT of the answers you are looking for as well as questions you have not thought of. Then I would recommend coming down to Panama, rent a 4x4 and spend about a month exploring. Best of luck.

Hey Tarzan, I would suggest taking your guests down to the causeway. I am sure you have been there before but there are many new shops and restaurants. Not to mention it is really interesting for "first-time" guests to see the ships waiting to use the canal. Is this the first time down to Panama for your guests?

Yes ,this will be a first trip for our friend and her 8 year old daughter . I thought they would enjoy the canal and eating at the Buffet up stairs in the Museum . I also thought we would have my driver take us to Allbrooke so she can see the Officers homes that were remodeled into private residences . Of course Casco Viejo is also a required trip along with the the National theater . A little shopping for keep sakes might be fun for the girls too . Also we will go to the place that has all the local Artist work for sale . Sorry I can't remember the name .

There are a couple of places but I think I know where you mean. One thing I have heard that I would like to do is take a ferry ride to the Island of Taboga. I heard it is a 45minute cruise that leaves from the causeway (I think?). You obviously must take her to the canal and shopping. Sounds like a good time.

Cheers

Thanks MRWOOHOO!

Well I know they (IL) are in the business of selling stuff, but thought they might still be usefull, since they've been around for a while. Being a new place I don't know how I would find a reputable real estate agent and other contacts if I wanted to get a place.

Anyways, look forward to coming down there, have you bought a place out there?

Still don't know how to create a new thread for diff topic of discussion. If anyone know please let me know, I'm sure it's really simople but I just can't seem to figure it out .

Take care,
LWT

Hey LoneWolf, go to the main page of this forum>Login>scroll down till you find what category you wish to post to>click on it>you will see a button that says "New Thread". In regards to buying land, etc., I really would avoid using a company that takes care of everything for you. There are plenty of honest real estate agents. Getting a real estate liscense in Panama is a big deal and they can loose it if they are not honest. Spend some quality time reading the posts on this forum and you will find that you can have all of the contacts you need. Many people here have a good real estate agent you can use including myself.

P.S. Thanks zhinghur. I hope you are doing well.

I think they (IL) is a pretty hard sell company . They will only show you stuff they stand to make a large commission on . Are you locked into living in the Panama City area or leaving your options open to different places in Panama . I would start researching areas on the Internet and looking at real estste company's prices of those who practice in those areas .
