Areas of Panama City

Hello, I'm thinking of visiting Panama City sometime in Feb-Mar. I'm trying to get an idea of how the city is laid out and what different areas/neighborhoods there are so I know where to stay and spend time. For example I know there is a "business district" and that there are several hotels there, but what's it like? This will be a vacation for me so I'm interested in a pleasant environment with restaurants, clubs, and music within walking distance if possible. Some time at the beach would also be nice. Should I consider staying at two different hotels for my 7 day stay?

It would be great to get a summary of the areas of P.C. and maybe a map. Thanks!

Maps are freely and easily available at Google Maps Just type in Panama City, Panama, and you will see a clearly demarcated map of the city.

Please keep in mind that while walking around may seem appealing, in practice, it is not always the best way to go. Taxis are cheap, plentiful and helpful--a lot of 'taxistas' know good places to go and have some advice on the hotspots. Poke around the site, there are lots of threads that discuss the info that you are looking for; I also recommend just picking up a guidebook for when you are there and don't have instant net access. I love the Lonely Planet guidebood, but Amazon can give you comprehensive lists of the guides available.

Cheers.
