Thread: How do I call a cell phone in Panama?

I have been given a number to reach someone in Panama and the numbering system does not have an area code, just XXXX-XXXX. Do I just dial 011 plus the number to reach them from Canada or the US?

That is correct. My wife calls her family (on their cell phones) almost every day.

Definately cheaper rates for cell phones to Panama but more expensive for land lines (.069 vs. .045). I admit Startec has good rates too to tother places like Colombia. Thanks for posting it.

You have to type the international outside number. In the USA its 011, then 507 (which is the country code of Panama) and the the complete cell phone number. It usually starts with a 6 and have 4 numbers first, instead of 3. Example: 6245-0000. In other words, you will have to dial: 011-507-6245-0000. Hope it helps.

No, Ed. The other posters were correct: you must first dial exit code 011, then panama area code 507, then number.

Er... that's fine Ed. Did the poster ask how to accomplish this feat from a cell phone? The exit code works from ANY phone..... although your method is certainly easier when using cellular.
