How safe is it to discreetly buy a small amount of weed in the Coronado or Gorgona area?
Have you ever heard about Panamanian prisons?
I echo Becky's sentiment. Next thing you know, you're behind bar and for what a nice buzz or two. Chill dude and forget the pot for now NOT WORTH IT.
I feel safer here than I do in Toronto, Canada...lets put it that way, and we don't have bars on our windows.
A small amount, a pound, bars look just the same from the inside. It really isn't worth it. I went through a lot of towns down there and every one of them had an underground ring, even the smallest of them. The thing is, is that the local cops know exactly who is who and who is selling what. It is their people. Now when a gringo walks in and makes a move to "buy a small amt", you are not their people. Makes a huge difference in how you are treated. It is always a choice.
(Putting on my tin foil hat) I'm not sure that is a question I would ask on a public forum.....
Anyway, I have heard about the conditions in Panama prisons...it's definitely not worth the risk.
no, go ahead and do it , and if youj get caught by the time you get out you will be able to speak spanish , or at least understand when someone says , hey bend over pretty boy , plus as a bonus you will understand more football terms , like tight end and wide reciever .
wide reciever? come on naked, you know that "I before E except after C still applies...
I wouldn't risk it.
Hmm i notice a lot of scary comments here. Im not planning on buying any, i wouldve stayed in holland then, but do you really go to prison here for buying small quantities like a few grams? I can imagine the cops would try to scare you a bit and take a nice bribe, but i cant imagine a judge giving one a proper sentence for this. They even stopped doing that in thailand and they are not really known for their mild drugs-policy.
Do we really want more stoner gringos showing up in Panama?
he should go to cuba , it is 20 years ,no time off , and if you get caught selling , you get life , when you die , you get out , right on the canadian embassy website for cuba it states if you get caught with drugs , dont waste your dime as there is nothing they can do , , it is really sad that a person can not take a few weeks off there drug habit when they go on holidays , i can hear the banjo music now . jajajaja
Ok, time to lay off and cut the guy some slack. We are not the judge and jury.
I agree with India. Maybe he just asks it because of illness and he is used to taking weed against pain or so. Besides that, i really dont see whats wrong with people who would like to smoke a joint from time to time.
This is a forum where people can ask questions, in hope to find proper answers.
like the old dentist use to say . opps must have hit a nerve .
Yes, really anything should be able to be asked on the forum. Why have a forum where a person cannot ask some of the questions that really need to be asked.
So, I will throw myself under the wheel so that the "self-righteous" ones can have some worthy input for a change. I smoke and have since I have been young. That is going on 40 years now. I also have a medical condition that gives me more pain than most of you men have never experienced. I was born with it. I have all Schedule Drugs at my fingertips to use at any time I want. The last time I went to Mexico, the DTF opened my bottle of Morphine to test it. He did not re-cap it correctly and it spilled all over the other medicine junk that I am to take, that I know is slowly poisoning me.
Which one would you choose to take? I don't. I will continue to use the smoke as my line of defense in handling this pain. Did I buy some in Panama? Yes. Twice. Did I know that I could be busted? Absolutely. Is it hard to get? Nope, in fact it was all over the country.
So until you know someone's story, please don't be so fast to slay them. I took a chance and told some of mine.
Thank you. Bombers1. You questions are always welcome on this Forum.
I think there are much better countries to do this kind of activity than Panama.
Just a thought. I have lived in a Panamanian barrio for about 21 months. I know that there is plenty of pot in Panama but I have not smelled it in my barrio. Panamanians watch the barrio. They report stuff they see going on in the barrio. They report the small stuff, I know that is a fact. I am positive they would report the smell of marijuana in the barrio to the police. Now, I don't know the rules but I believe that the Police would just enter your house and start looking around and they would find illegal drugs pretty easily. And, being a Gringo I am pretty sure that your house would be one of the first ones searched. I believe that it would be pretty risky to smoke pot in a normal Panamanian barrio where we live in close quarters as it is. Please don't do this in the hood. Not worth the risk.
Yes. Guess that I will just have to go back to the hard stuff that is legal. I will submit lawfully to the land that I love.
A Canadian friend, who is an avid pot smoker, asks me why on earth would you buy it here when the high quality stuff is back home.
A condition of my employment (and my security clearance) is to submit to random drug testing. Otherwise, I would already have a medical marijuana (MMJ) card. I have several medical conditions that would easily qualify me to get the card/buy the MMJ. We have LOTS of MMJ dispensaries here in Colorado Springs. Unfortunately, the Federal government still takes a very dim view of their civilian employees taking advantage of the potential benefits of MMJ usage. Right now, my job and my clearance are much more important to me than taking advantage of the MMJ.
......BUT, after I retire (again), that will be a different story!![]()
It seems to me that it is only a matter of time before marijuana will be legalized totally in the US. I doubt that marijuana will ever be legalized or decriminalized in Panama in our lifetime. Does anyone know about the status of this issue here in Panama? The original question concerned pot use in Panama and its safety. I believe it is very unsafe to be affiliated with illegal drug use in this country. If pot use is important to you it is definitely a good idea to look into moving to a different country. How tragic would it be to spend 10 years in a dirty, poorly managed prison because you wished to smoke marijuana.
I understand, TennVol. A job with the FG is a good thing at this time. Retirement will come your way. The years fly by.
I hear you, Pollerkeeper. I doubt we will see it legalized in Panama even though it is used throughout the country. America will need to do something though as the border war is not going to get any better. It is not able to be stopped unless America legalizes drugs. The beautiful city of Monteray, Mx is going down now and I fear Mexico will soon be in complete control by the Narcos. Pretty scary. We have our own "middle east" war going on south of the border and it is now the most dangerous place on earth. Hard to believe that it only really started in 2006 and has gotten so far out of hand so quickly. Pretty soon, Tx and AZ will only be good for those "free-range" chickens.
If it makes you feel any better I would vote yes for legalizing marijuana. I think hemp clothing is cool too.
