Taxis are extremely cheap in Panama, so when you say "less than taxi priced", I don't think it's possible.

OK, fair enough, don't want to sound like a freeloader. however, what will charge a guy with car for driving, explaining not only city but somewhere outside, lets say for 8-10 hr. day?

The average taxi driver in PC will ask about $8/hour.Of course you can try to bargain for less. In my opinion you don't need to take a taxi per hour. The maximum they charge inside the city is about $2. They charge more on Sundays, nighttime and for extra people but still it will be very cheap, maybe a tenth of what you pay in Montreal or Toronto. Keep in mind that you won't be charged extra when you're stuck in traffic. Only coming from or going to the airport(Tocumen) is relatively expansive($20-25). And don't take taxis in front of hotels, casinos or tourist places. Just flag a passing taxi.

In the past (it's been a few years and I don't have their numbers) -- if you really want more of a tour guide. They charge around $100 a day. They drove me around with a 4 X 4 and it was awesome.

That being said -- you might be able to get a guy in the city for around $50 a day if you're just going to drive and tour things in the city.

We have a trusted driver that is for hire for $10 an hour. If you need a place to stay we also have a few spare bedrooms for rent. air conditioning, private pool, tennis court etc. in backyard. 15 min from downtown.
