    floatation therapy

If you´re visiting Panama City and looking to do something unusual, why not try floataion therapy at Driftaway, Panama´s first floatation center.

This technique allows you to experience the zero gravity effect of floating whilst suspended in a solution of water saturated with Epsom salt.It has been called ¨the most profound relaxation technique yet devised by humankind¨ and is great for relieveing stress as well as joint or muscle aches and pains.

Its a fantastic way to recharge your batteries and almost everybody who tries it - loves it!

If you would like to find out how floatation therapy can work for you then visit the wesite at www.driftawaypanama.com or call 360 2050

How cold is the water and is it totally dark inside the tank? How many tanks do you have? Is it advisable to book in advance or just go there?

    floatation therapy

    Hi Chris

The water is held at 34.8 degrees celsius which is precisely body temperature. The idea is that by equalizing the temperature between you and your environment, then you reduce the necessity for your brain to make the constant minor temperature adjustments necessary to maintain your body in equilibrium. It also means that you tend to lose all sense of where your body ends and the solution begins, thus adding to the heightened levels of consciousness that is experienced in the tank.

The tank is also completely dark once you slide the lid closed, but there is a light inside which you can leave on if you wish. You can also leave the lid open if you want to, but that does tend to lower the air temperature above the solution, which is not ideal, as parts of your body will be out of the water and ideally should be maintained at the same temperature as those that are in the water.

The premise is, that by reducing sensory input to almost zero, the brain is given a " time out" on its normal relentless task of processing incoming sensory input and making necessary adjustments. It means also that the normally dominant left hemisphere o the brain is essentially closed down which gives the right hemisphere a chance to come to the fore.

Right hemisphere thinking is what gives the tank its special appeal since it allows a level of creative thought to emerge which many of us do not even realize that we possess.

You will need to make an appointment if you want to float and you can do this by calling 360 2050. Ask to speak to Kim, my wife, and she will answer all your questions.

You should also log on to the website - all the info is on there.

Give it a try - I promise that you'll really enjoy it!

I just finished watching the infomercial. This is actually the first time I hear about this, I'll be sure to keep in mind when I go visit Panama.

It sounds a lot better than the traditional stress relief methods. And while I'll probably only be able to afford an hour or so, it looks worthwhile.

I have never tried this before. I would like some more details.. like the fees and all... Anyway I do need some stress release measures right now... I will think about this one for sure.

This is new and quite interesting. I'm going to try it out when I get the chance to visit. The tank looks a bit intimidating but if it will relieve me of stress and some muscle pains then it's probably worth it.

Hmm.. just went through your client review page... Lots of positive feedback.. Couldn't read all of them since most of them were in Spanish. Nice looking website... congrats for putting it up.

Those were great comments. I liked the one from the 7.5 month pregnant woman since I'm nearing 8 months as well. Too bad I've already given birth by the time I get to visit but disregarding that, it looks like one experience I shouldn't miss in Panama.

So it looks like this place has closed. I went there a couple of days ago and was told by a neighbor that they had sold everything and moved away!

Is there a similar place in Panama? I'd be very interested in giving this a try.
