Panama nightlife

Gordon and Randy,
Canada
Interesting article. But I will strongly advise you to stay away from Casco Viejo. I don't think it is an area which tourists should visit. I was lucky to get out of the area without any unwanted incidents the last time I visited the area. Never heard of La Casona de las Brujas though.

Very nice, thank you for sharing. What are the best areas for nightlife thou?
I'll make sure to stay out of Casco Viejo lol
1. Calle Uruguay is the main place. There's like 20 bars and clubs in that area.
2. Paitilla has a few places.
3. If you like electronica: The Gallery is the best place.

i went to CV during the day and it was a little intimidating. i can't imagine that area at night. i went to La Boudeguita but i don't remember what side of town that was in.
interesting article, thx for sharing with us.
as Ford made a point, I will avoid CV, that sound just a little too dangerous for my taste.
That was an interesting article! :-)
La Bodeguita is on Calle Uruguay. It is very popular with middle-aged (or older) male tourists who are looking for temporary girlfriends.
Casco Viejo is safe as long as a) you take a taxi to get there, and b) you exercise common sense. E.g., don't walk around with your Nikon on your neck and your gold Rolex on your wrist, don't wear shorts, sandals, and a fanny-pack (screams "Tourist!!"), don't get drunk, and don't wander around aimlessly -- have a destination, and stay in the well-lit areas. There are lots of very helpful tourist police on bicycles who are there 24x7.
At the same time, that UK article's claim that Casco Viejo has "the best nightlife" is horse-puckey. It is interesting and varied, but the selection is very small. Calle Uruguay is still the champ, by far, for quantity and quality.
Btw, nobody calls Casco Viejo "Casco Antiguo," but some do call it "San Felipe."

It's a good thing I chanced upon this post. My husband and I would love to experience Panama's nightlife even for just a couple of nights and it's nice to know that I'm aware of where I'm not supposed to go and what to be wary of.
If we wanted to go somewhere with good food and a great live band after the sun finally sets, where do you suggest we drop by?![]()
