The following devices have WiFi capabilities and are good for general web surfing. However, they may or may not work on sites like YouTube and so on.

But for just checking the weather or e-mail, they should get the job done.

PDAs that have WiFi
PSP
Nintendo DS with the Opera Cartridge
iPhone
Any other cell phone with WiFi

^ While those devices may not be the best to browse the web with, they can get the job done. But keep in mind that they don't pick up the signal as good as a laptop.

The reason why I mentioned those items is in case you don't want to bring your laptop and would want to go online in your trip, you could use those devices to surf the net via wireless internet instead. I highly recommend the PDA option, however PDAs can be a bit pricey. But they will allow you to do more than just surf the web.

ZeroCapacity

A lot of cell phones surf the net also. That can get pricey fast though. You can find some deals on PDAs on the net just watch what are doing and make sure you get what you want.

Laptop is the best way to go.

I agree laptop would be nice since you can do many things easily with it even for general web surfing but I guess it depends on the person usage.
