Road from David to Boquete

How is road to and from Boquete. Is it one lane? Is it a good paved road? Do you have to drive on the edge of a cliff?

We are planning a trip there and that's the only thing that scares me. I heard the driving down there is wild and I'm sure there are a lot of construction materials going up the mountain to Boquete.

Panama City to David is four-lane (two in each direction) and two-lane (one in each direction) -- it alternates. The road from David to Boquete is two-lane, and is easy and non-scary.

The wildest driving is in Panama City. When you head to the interior, you just have to be alert for crazed busses and big trucks that take too many chances. Also, in a rental car you can be a target for the police -- so, obey the speed limits (and it's sometimes hard to see the signs).

Thanks Soltero, is the road paved? I can't stand to drive on a ledge where you can see down. Is there something on both sides of the road to protect you if you go off the road? I know this sounds wierd, but I just have a phobia about driving on a cliff where you can see down.

I'm not scared at all about the food, the water, the crime, etc. Just heights is my problem.

Yes, it is paved all the way. Guardrails? I can't remember. But the road really doesn't have any vertigo-inducing views -- Boquete isn't that high -- and you're never close to the edge. The biggest problem will be potholes -- and oncoming Panamanian drivers who are in your lane trying to avoid them. :-)
