I'll be traveling from the Seattle area to San Jose, Costa Rica Dec. 1st. I plan to stay a couple days in San Jose then fly to Bocas del Toro for a couple days. Then I would like to take a plane to Tocumen airport, rent a car and travel up the West coast for few days checking out the areas for a place to retire. Any suggestions from anyone about the best way to travel to Tocumen from Bocas? Thanks.
Hi! I havent been traveling to Bocas del Toro, but my friends have been there and they use a plane. If you want to go by bus you will need 12 hours to travel in bus, maybe without air condition. Plane is better - for egzample Panama Airlines, but they do not get off from Tocumen but from other smaller airport near Albrook (I forget the name of it)
Flying from Bocas to Albrook should be less than $100, I am guessing at $50. Driving or taking a bus from Bocas can be a little long and nerve wracking. I would suggest if you are looking for a place to retire that you possibly fly from Bocas to David, rent a 4x4, and check out Volcan, Boquete, and that general area. Dont forget Las Lajas on the beach. You can also check out the very nice medical facilities in David.
