Yes, same on BC Ferries, but most vehicles are in the "belly" of the ship and not exposed.

Since my earlier post I've researched ferries from Baja a bit more and, well, not sure it's a good option. Most of what I read is that the ferry may or may sail, and the schedule isn't exactly regular. I've plotted my route as down the coast then over to Tucson and then south from there. It would be wonderful if the same kind of TripTik was available for south of the border, but it's not. The beauty of the TripTik is it's on my laptop, for which I have an invertor so I can hopefully navigate and drive without crashing. lol

Not sure about finding Internet access on the trip, but I will be posting my progress, or lack thereof, if I can find access. It would be great to get messages back from anyone following me down.

This time of year, the ferries run fairly regularly--at least 4 times a week. But if you really need a strict schedule, then I recommend that you fly!

Cheers.

I don't think of visiting during rainy seasons as it's probably hard to move around visiting beaches and such where I spent most of time indoors.

'Rainy season' is a kind of misnomer, it does not rain all the time--just a few times during the day for 15-20 minutes. I have never noticed these periodic cloudbursts from deterring anyone from visiting the beaches or other sights. As far as staying indoors, the heat and humidity might do that to do you far more than the rain.

You mentioned that you are from Malaysia, correct? So, the tropical climate that you live in is very similar to the one in Panama, since both countries are in the equatorial belt; Malaysia at around 3°N and Panama at around 8°N. Take a look at a global map and it's fairly obvious that they should have similar weather.
So, what do you do during the monsoon season? Keep in mind that the south Asian monsoon season is rainier than the 'rainy season' in the new world.

Cheers.
