What do you think is the number one reason for a person to travel to Panama?

I'd say shopping! Panama has a lot to provide (as compared to other Latin American countries) and in most cases is cheaper too (especially for electronic devices).

i'd say sightseeing first... then probably shopping and surfing.

I'd say to do business. It has the US dollar as national currency, stable government, stable banks (a lot of them!).

Another reason would be to live there or retire there. Panama is a third world country with first world infrastructure and excellent and affordable health care.

I'm not sure but for now I view Panama as a place for sightseeing, and of course the food and stuffs

Good one ankuranks, for sightseeing I find Panama Canal is really a must. I wonder how long is the trip to travel along the canal.

Sightseeing ( more specifically beaches) and the sea-foods. Besides as already mentioned above , it is hard to find such world class infrastructure in the third world country .

I don't know about others .but for me number one reason to visit Panama would be the beautiful landscape . From all the photos I've seen on a blog posted here , Panama looks like Paradise .
The number one reason to move to Panama would be the weather , I hate winters , so the tropical climate attracted me from the very beginning.

Most people who select Panama as a leisure travel destination do so for the same reason they travel to Costa Rica (although far more people go there) - to "get away from it all" and retreat from the urban rat race; to relax with maitais at pristine beaches. Some do so for outdoor adventures like mountain climbing and water rafting, still others to sail through the Panama Canal.

Due to it's (Colon) duty free zone, international banking center, construction and real estate industry, Panama also attracts the business traveler. But the last reason most people travel to Panama for is the first reason I do - Panama City (the same reason I go to Vegas or Manhattan) to absorb the urban atmosphere and night life.
