By JOSE DE JESUS ORTIZ for the Houston Chronicle - Astros slugger Carlos Lee might not be healthy enough to take the field for Panama in March's World Baseball Classic. Astros slugger Carlos Lee isn’t sure whether he’ll be able to represent his native Panama in the World Baseball Classic as he did in 2006. Lee is still rehabbing the left little finger that suffered six fractures on Aug. 9, forcing him to miss the rest of the 2008 season. “I still don’t know if I’ll play (in the WBC),” he said. “I have a visit with the doctor (Tom Mehlhoff) next week. And he’ll tell me if I should. I’ll be in Houston next week for that visit (with Mehlhoff).” WBC organizers held a news conference Wednesday at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino to kick off promotional activities for the tournament. Former Yankee Hector Lopez will manage Team Panama. Lopez has already called Lee to gauge his interest in representing Panama again. (Photo Credit: Karen Warren Houston Chronicle)
