Jailed Colombian Says He Gave Big Bucks to Panama Politicos
A Colombian financier awaiting trial on charges he ran a massive pyramid scheme said he gave $6 million to candidates running in Panama’s May general elections.
Panamanian dailies La Prensa and La Estrella posted on their Web sites transcripts of interviews with David Murcia Guzman, who was arrested after authorities closed down his DMG offices in Colombia.
While several other pyramid schemes in Colombia went bust last year, leaving thousands of duped investors in the lurch, DMG was still operating at the time it was shuttered.
Why he was giving money to Panamanian politicians? He was living in Colombia, his scheme was run in Colombia and moreover he was a Colombian citizen. So why should he try to bribe the Panamanian poiliticians?
