Thread: Three Killed, Two Injured in Attempted Armored Car Robbery

A total of three people were killed and another two injured in an attempted robbery of an armored car in the Calidonia area of Panama City this morning. The assault against the armored car from a company called "Transportes Blindados S.A." occurred near the National Lottery building. One of the security agents who was working for the armored car company was shot in the chest four times and died at the scene. Anel Omar Rodríguez Barrera, a personal friend of Panamanian president Martin Torrijos and the General Director of Panama's National Institute of Arts and Culture (INAC), was literally in the wrong place at the wrong time and was caught up in the crossfire between the assailants and security personnel, and he was shot and killed as a result. The third person who died was one of the assailants, and two others were shot and injured.

That is just sad. What is the crime rate in Panama anyway? I may have the opportunity to visit Panama City this summer. I am wondering if there are parts of the city that a female tourist should stay away from. I will be on a business trip and I would like to fit in some sight seeing too.

I just can't imagine in every crimes like this why do these people doing this? I mean I'm sure they also have their own families? I think they should put themselves in the situation what if their love ones are in this kind of incident before they realize how every people do hard working just to earn money to survive in everyday life.
