Panama-Guide.com - In case you hail from the United States and don't have a clue, in Europe the national teams representing sixteen nations are playing the UEFA EURO '08 soccer tournament, a warm-up to qualifying for the FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Of the top ten FIFA ranked teams in the world, Argentina is #1 and Brazil is #2, but the remaining eight are all European teams (in order, #3 Italy, #4 Spain, #5 Germany, #6 Czech Republic, #7 France, #8 Greece, #9 England, #10 Holland.) By the way, Mexico is #14 in the world rankings, the USA is #21, and Panama is #60 (tied with Canada.) In Europe there are 53 teams and only 13 places in the FIFA 2010 World Cup. The European qualifiers get underway in August 2008 after UEFA EURO 2008, with 53 teams playing in 9 groups on a home and away basis. Today, Group C is playing with Romania vs. France at 11:00 am and then Holland vs. Italy at 3:45 pm.
