By Mirna Ospino for the Panama America - Today the Presidential Secretary of Communications announced the changes to the Executive Cabinet designated by President Martin Torrijos. The newly designated ministers are; Housing Minister - Gabriel Diez, Education Minister, Salvador Rodríguez, and Minister of the Presidency, Dilio Torres. In addition José Batista was named as the new Vice Minister of Housing, Mirna de Crespo was named as the new Vice Minister of Education, Carlos García as the new Vice Minister of the Presidency, and Severo Sousa as the new Vice Minister of Foreign Commerce. Boris Barrios was designated as the new General Electoral Prosecutor and Francisco Rodríquez was designated as the new Director of the Social Investment Fund (FIS). The new Director of the National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC) is Francisco Sucre. Fernando Tejada is the new Governor of Las Tablas, and Juan Carlos Bridd is the new Governor of the Darién province. Jaime Ruíz is the new Director of the National Police.
Editor's Comment: No big deal here. This will be the group for the final year of the Martin Torrijos administration. The Minister of Education got swapped out over the FECE scandal, as well as the (really dumb) fiberglass in the schools issue. Balbina Herrera left to run for the Presidency, opening up Housing. Roberto Velasquez Abood left SINAPROC to run for the Mayor of Panama. This is a kind of "ho-hum" news event for me. Obligatory coverage, but really, who cares?

La Secretaria de Comunicaciones del Estado anunció hoy los cambios de Gabinete designados por el presidente de la República, Martín Torrijos.


Según lo anunciado los nuevos ministros son: Gabriel Diez, ministro de Vivienda, Salvador Rodríguez, titular de Educación y Dilio Torres, nuevo ministro de la Presidencia.


También fueron nombrados José Batista, Mirna de Crespo, Carlos García y Severo Sousa como nuevos viceministros de Vivienda, Educación, Presidencia y Comercio Exterior respectivamente.


Mientras que Boris Barrios fue designado nuevo Fiscal General Electoral y Francisco Rodríquez, director del Fondo de Inversión Social (FIS).


Por otro lado, la figura de director del Sistema Nacional de Protección Civil (SINAPROC) recae en Francisco Sucre, mientras que Fernando Tejada y Juan Carlos Bridd fueron desigandos como Gobernadores de Las Tablas y de la provincia de Darién.


También fue anunciada la designación de Jaime Ruíz como nuevo director encargado de la Policía Nacional.
