Thread: What makes the history of Panama special than other countries?

What makes the history of Panama special than other countries? For example from my home country (philippines) during early years our country is being under by Japanese, American, and Spanish dictatorial leaders. Our ancestors fought them by writing poems and fighting together even their lives would suffer.
