The History Channel makes most of their specials available in DVD format. You might want to check their website to see if they had any specials about Panama or at least in some way related to Panama.
I'm doing some research on the history of Panama. I read all the online stuff (like wikipedia, etc), and I'm looking for recommendations for additional resources on the history of Panama. Like books, documentaries, opinions, etc.

Hello
Panama has a rich Pre-Colombian culture and it is 11000 years old. It was settled by Chocoan, Chibchan and Curva peoples. Archaeological finds as well as testimonials by early European explorers describe diverse native isthmian groups exhibiting cultural variety and suggesting people already conditioned by regular regional routes of commerce.
Maybe there are some local historical museums in Panama that you could go to? Does anyone know of any good ones?
Listed here are the Afro-Caribbean Museum (Museo Afro antilleno) and the Anthropology Museum (all the Indian tribes, settlement history, etc.) as well as the Canal museum.

The Casco Viejo is basically a slice of history that you can walk around in; while ppl do live and work there, there are so many old buildings that are full of stories. There are lots of plaques to read, guided tours to take and views to see.

Museums are a great way to learn.
Aside from the other stuff mentioned in this thread you can go to your local book store/library and ask about books related to the history of Panama. They are a bound to have at least a few. As for videos, go to your local video store or video rental place and ask. They probably have a couple of good titles as well.
You can't do justice to any history of Panama without watching The Panama Deception. I just watched the whole thing, and as disturbing as some of the video is, it is an amazing account of what really happened. I cannot fathom how people were not held accountable for the atrocities committed against the Panamanian people.
I think the best way to collect information about panama is to watch the history channel and go to panama in person and talk to the natives of panama.
