    Recent Happenings in Panama

Are there any new happenings in Panama that caused a huge development or negative effect on the economy? Or is it really a stable country without any flaws? I have not been hearing Panama being mentioned in the news so might as well ask somebody from this forum.

Things are more or less ok the way I see it. There were a few strikes over the past year but nothing really serious. The expansion of the Panama Canal is believed to benefit the economy.

Now that you mention it, I wonder how do the people of Panama conduct strikes? Are there chances of having violence during strikes? In the Philippines, strikes are often accompanied by violence.

In my opinion strikes in Panama City are not violent at all.. they are more annoying in a way that they very often cause traffic jams.

Traffic jams could really cause headaches to drivers who are in a hurry. It is also a common problem in our country. Added to that is the violence and the amount of trash that they leave behind.

The strikes can also cause certain businesses, services, or goods to become unavailable or expensive. Luckily, the strikes seem to all end before anything goes too wrong. I haven't heard about much violence associated with them, but that doesn't mean there isn't some.
