Panama Canal

The construction for this ship canal is one of the most difficult and biggest constructions in history. Do you think that this canal was really able to help Panama in terms of economy and bringing Panama to its current state?

What kind of developments did this canal able to bring forth to Panama? Was it able to develop an easier way to trade? I hope you could share some information about this.

I think the canal helped other countries and people more than it helped Panama and the people in Panama. The reason is that other people needed it to get get through the continent without having to go around. So, it helped trade for other countries, as well as the professional sailors.

Panama's dollarized economy is directly related to Panama Canal revenues, world commerce (Colon Free Zone), the (international) banking industry, the real estate market and tourism, probably in that order of prominence.
