The official language is Spanish and there are various indigenous languages. Many Panamanians have a working knowledge of English. Some use English as their second language, especially in Panama City. The dominant religion in Panama is Roman Catholicism. The cuisine is a melting pot of various cultures and influences. Traditional cuisine commonly found in regional areas is a mixture of Afro-Caribbean, indigenous, and Spanish influences.
