HSBC Premier.
Obviously it will be much cheaper to just pay the $99 per year than to tie up a ton of money is a low interest CD and also pay some annual fee + nasty monthly fees. I used to get it for free with the world elite mastercard, but now they charge a 3 % foreign transaction fee (yes, even if in US dollars) so I threw it in the garbage. Now I only use Capital One cashback - by far the best travel card.
Credicorp has the best cashback card in Panama (2 % on gas, groceries, 1 % on rest).
Thanks.
I already have HSBC Premier in Canada. That offers me access to lounges in Asia in places I have never heard of. Very few if any bank fees. In Panama they only offer the basic priority pass which still costs $30 to enter.
With Amex Platinum they are dropping Continental in the fall and the priority pass they offer excludes Continental. Not good if flying out of PTY.
I would rarely fly on the carrier that operates the lounges so that does not help either.
I've been using Staralliance, good stuff ;-)
