Re: New member heading to Panama this spring

    Welcome!

I'll summarize what I've learned from others on this forum and save you tons of time.

Retire to Panama? Great to consider further to see if it would be a fit for you. Most of us have or will be doing the same thing--fulltime or as a second home. Visit often and as long as you can, rent in different areas to determine what lifestyle you want, can afford, and can tolerate. Buy if and when you've completed all your due diligence. There are plenty of properties and prices have moved downward over the past couple years. As usual, you have those predicting further collapse, but I'm not one of them, but also do not believe that there's truly any urgency to jump in at this time. I think it's like the U.S. -- sort of bouncing around at or near the price bottom.

Open a business in Panama? Not enough time or money on this Earth to justify the aggravation, especially if you have to hire locals! Unemployment is nearly 0%. (Possible exception: some internet based business that could be done anywhere in the world with good connectivity).

    Anyway, just my short-cut opinions.
