    Thinking About Moving To Panama

Dear Friends: I am interested in moving to Panama for my retirement. I think I would like to live in Boqete, but I am not sure. I am also looking for a US bank in Panama, especially those near Boqete. Any information would be greatly appreciated. My email address in the US is LindaSolway1@aol.com.
    Sincerely,
    Linda

come and visit the country before you move , from the sound of your post you have never been here , do not believe what you read on the net , you need to rent for 6 months and test drive the country and the area you think you might want to live in ,

    Welcome!!
I do not believe there are any US Banks in Panama. There are a few with the same name, but they do not communicate. I thought I would join a bank in the US that was in Panama so I didn't have to transfer funds. No such animal when I was looking.

Smile Re: Thinking About Moving To Panama

    Hi and welcome.

I´m a native to Panamá, and as far as I know, there are no U.S. Banks established in Panamá. We have HSBC and CITI, but my understanding is that these two banks don´t deal with the U.S. The BANCO GENERAL does deal with many banks in the U.S. via New York, in fact, that is my bank and you could probably find an office near Boquete. Hope this information helps.

    Regards

    Ricardo

Citibank N.A. is the only one. Not to be confused with Citibank Panama S.A. The former is in the Credicorp building.
