    Exploring

I am coming to Panama to be open and see what the connection is. I do have a question as I get many different ideas on the internet. Are mosquitoes something I need to be prepared for? Friends say they see very few. The mosquitoes here seem to enjoy biting me more than others, so I am checking before coming. Many thanks. and thank you for having a forum for people to connect. Hellen

The incidence of Dengue Fever, spread via mosquitoes, has risen dramatically this past year.

The coffee flies (no seeums) are way worse than the mosquitos. I have only seen a couple of them.

Thank you all. It is good to have info from folks who are there. What do you do for the coffee flies?

swat at them right after you feel the little bite . but they are so small you never see them . or you could cover your body with chemicals to keep them off , or cover up exposed areas . they feel like a little pin prick

If it is sunny, I never get bothered by them. When the clouds come out, so do they. You can use Off (or anything similar), or go natural with Neem oil, but I hate the smell of Neem, no wonder the bugs hate it....

    Re: Exploring

you probably know this. but just sharing on dengue fever bites.
The principal vector mosquito, Ae. aegypti, prefers to feed on humans during the daytime and most frequently is found in or near human habitations. There are two peak periods of biting activity, in the morning for several hours after daybreak and in the late afternoon for several hours before dark. The mosquito may feed at any time during the day, however, especially indoors, in shady areas, or when it is overcast. Mosquito breeding sites include artificial water containers such as discarded tires, uncovered barrels, buckets, flower vases or pots, cans, and cisterns.

    Re: Exploring

About the "No Seeums"...... when I lived in Florida, we had them BAD.... worse than mosquitos at times. "Skin So Soft" by Avon works and doesn't smell bad and is fairly cheap... I am not sure but prob. about $5 or $6 US dollars........ Just a small tip for everyone!

Yep, I used skin so soft in Caribbean Islands and it works great. Had forgotten about that one. Hellen
