    Red face Howdy !!

Hello everyone !!! Finally retiring in March 1, 2012, Thank God!!! Ready to give Panama a try. I've made several trips to Costa Rica, but after researching Panama, Panama makes the grade!! In March I'll complete 3o long years in law enforcement in a county that is changing beyond my expectations. I'm planning a month long exploration trip in Panama in 2012. Any recommendations on a Immigratiom attorneys?

make sure your bill is below $750 and pay 50 % in advance and rest when permanent. you need clearance record and proof of lifetime pension with apostille, embassy certification. problem will be finding local bank that accepts you as client without having card creating a catch 22, something they do enjoy.

    Welcome!!
You get 180 days on your Visa to come down and check out the place. Don't spend any money on attorneys until you know if you like it here or not.

Welcome! With 10 years of corporate and fugitive investigations I know how refreshing it is to step out of the disenchantment of the US criminal justice system.

I definitely agree with Becky, don't spend any money on any attorney until you have thoroughly researched them (get to know people in the industry and find out about their reputation) and feel comfortable with taking on the full experience of spending time in Panama.

With that said, Leroy Sheffer at International Trade Advisory Services is an honorable and decent guy that will take the time to talk with you and see if your situation is something he can work with you on. His specialty is trade and corporate law but immigration is usually a function of that so they can help out with that process as well.

    Enjoy your time here!

you will enjoy a 50 % discount on hotels Mon-Thurs, 30 % Fri-Sun. 25 % in restaurants, 20 % on all domestic/international flights, 25 % off electric up to 600 kWh. you will get a temporary carnet right away when you file - depending on what your plans are it might pay off in a few months. if you feel the "wibe" after 2 weeks you might as well file it, enjoy the discounts, worst case scenario you broke even and have a residency permit in a second country so you can fly here on one-way tickets or move here anytime, or enjoy you vacations with the discounts. i paid my attny 500 in total.

Yes, it isn't wise to get advice on the internet, there are some real whackos out there.

The attorney below came highly recommended from several folks on this board. I contacted Mayra and can attest to her promptness. I would definitely meet with her in person and discuss your situation.
