I think the roads are actually pretty decent. Compared to Costa Rica, Guatemala, and most of Mexico; they are great. The potholes, lack of signage, and washed out areas keep one alert. At least there aren't topes (speed bumps) everywhere as there are in other Central American countries. I keep thinking I should start a photo album of topes since they run the gamut from speed pimples to right angled curbs. I did start an album of road signs going through the Guatemalan rain forest. Unfortunately, I didn't see but a few of the creatures depicted on the signs.

I sure would like to have a beer or two with you and I'll buy. I've been trying to get out of Wisconsin for over a year and at least I had someone look at my house today. No matter what, I'm leaving here soon. I'll rent it out if I can't sell it. I plan on spending some time in the Pedasi area anyway so the beers will fit right in. I'll be looking for a place to rent for a few months while I look around some more and perhaps you can give me some advice...that would be worth muchas cervezas.
I'd hate to take some of those unsuspecting topes in a Class A with trailer. As it was, I left skid marks all around Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize. I made three trips on a motorcycle and am ready to do another one.

    Welcome to the forum Dinho!!

Bicar I know how you feel - we got out of Northern Illinois a year before we sold our house. One of the kids wanted to move into the house while it was for sale so they could take care of things. I put my foot down (MEAN MOTHER) and said no since we had completely renovated it when we put it on the market. We let the house sit empty and had another kid check on it once a week, plus we had good neighbors and kept an eye on everything.

And the roads are a vast improvement over what they used to be...... When I was a teenager, I drove from Canada all the way to Panama City. Between San José and western Panama, the Panamerican Highway was basically a series of medium to large size boulders interspersed with potholes. Good thing we had cold beer because we had no air conditioning in the car....

    Re: Introducing...: me

    Hi Gordon,

From a newbie here. Just a thought. I thought it wasn't possible to drive all the way through Central America to be able to get to Panama City. I know I may be wrong on this. But if it is possible, to be able to attempt that today. I need a Hum V with a 50 cal. mounted on it in order to get through Mexico.
