    John C

Just wanted to say hi, and I wished I found this website sooner. I will be doing some traveling in Panama in two weeks to check out possibly a place for retirement within the coming year. Been there before but did not do any extensive traveling, just Panama City (not for me), Bouquete (sp), to far from the beach, and Bocas Del Toro, nice place but too far from everything. Now looking at the Pacific Coast from EL Valle/Coronado area up through the Azuero Peninsula. Three weeks isn't much time, but I expect to make another trip around December to hopefully find a temporary place to call home by next summer, and get a chance to look around more. Any information you are willing to share with me before my trip would be very much appreciated!
    Thanks

I think Coronado will be your best bet. Not necessarily living within the gates but from Gorgona on up to entrance of El Valle there are lots of options for you. Punta Barco, Vista Mar, San Carlos, El Palmar, Rio Mar, etc. Gorgona is considered a ghetto but I lived there for a while and had no problems. It actually is a safe town and has a real nice beach, the only one with a stunning mountain backdrop. If you start going further out towards Decameron, Rio Hato, Santa Clara, you are getting way out there and far from amenities.

There is massive construction going on in Coronado right on the corner entrance. Many new shopping plazas are coming on line within a year. I think they way overbuilt the area and there will be many vacancies, but over the course of many years the malls will fill up. It's the place you want to be.

    Welcome!!

It's way too hot and humid for me down there near Coronado at the beach.

Agree, but I live up toward the mountains where it is a bit cooler and more breezes and still less than 8 minutes away from Coronado. Go up towards La Laguna past Las Lajas/Los Pozos entrance. There is a lot of construction going on up there. A new hotel is being built. They licensed the 007 Bond name. Strange location for a hotel IMO but who knows, once the area gets more recognition it could do well. They also will have a nice restaurant. I'll be the first one to check it out.
