Considering a visit to Boqette or Volcan

    Hello

I have heard that Boquette may be overrun with expats and causing the local prices to become gringo prices.

Volcan is said to be a nice alternative.

I am looking for a mountain area where I can buy / build on acerage or hectares (by the way what is the comparison of an acre to a hectare?)

Not a hot climate like David but I am reading that Volcan gets down to 50 at night. Is that true?

I like to be within 45 minutes of a city like David with all the shopping and amenities but dont want to live there rather in outlying area.

How is safety, medical care, dental care.

    Is homeschooling allowed?

With the pensianado program are you allowed to bring your vehicle and furniture over duty free?

As you can see I have many questions.

Thanks for your answers in advance.

They are only a little over an hour apart on the Ruta Sur, you could check them both out in a day. Cerra Punta, near Volcan, is the bread basket of Panama. All the fresh veggies you can eat. Both Volcan and Boquete have a lot of Expats, both are beautiful and serene, both are mountain villages. I really can't tell you which one you'll like, you need to see for yourself.

Volcan is building a clinic right now, it does get chilly in Volcan, and as far as I know, homeschooling is allowed.

There are expats in the area and the prices seem to be a bit higher but its not terrible. If you want an area that is higher in elevation there are lots of choices also. The area around Boquete is not the only one. Some others maybe able to give you some specifics

The road from David to Boquete is a steady rise in elevation so you can find the exact area/ elevation you want as well as the distance.

Here is a site that gives some information about weather in Boquete. It says the lows are in the 50's (average temps are low to mid 60's)

The conversion is 1 hec = 2.47105 acre

Just search Google for an online conversion if you want

The question about the pensionado, safety, medical ect have been discussed a bit on the site. Try the search function to see if you can find them.

    Good luck!
