Dorothy--You are not in Kansas anymore!

We are new full time residents here. We are adjusting to new rules and regulations especially regarding starting a new business. It has been a maze to work thru.

We have been visiting for several years but you really don't know somewhere until you live there. Pluses and minuses.

We really like Panama and now consider it our home away from home.

After being here a while, then you can give good advise.

I have used the forum before for info and it has been good.

    Salud!

There is a HUGE learning curve!!! Especially if your Espanol is poor. I think you really need someone ( professional assistant type) to walk you thru the first six months.
I have a handyman who has become my best frind and has been very helpful!! Now, in my business, I have an assistant to help me with the regulations and rules here. Getting permits and ect. is a maze....even the people in the dept. may not know what all you need. I have learned expect to make at Least 2-3 trips! It has been crazy.

She is well connected to everywhere..which is a big help!!
As they say..It's not what you know but who you know!!

I am truly learning about patience and waiting. My staff regularly says "Tranquillo Jefe"!!

    Thanks.

Itīs a bit like Forrest Gump said. Although the box is properly labelled with pictures and all - life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get! Obviously you would have to be a complete retard not knowing what a box of chocolates contain (does not apply in Panama).

This is tooo funny and does apply here.
My new saying is every day is a new proble ..everyday is seeing something new or crazy..like someone backing onto the Corridor Norte! I am ever amazed by the creativety of the people here..driving, repairs, handyman work, solution to problems...not always the smartest or best...but very creative!

    Take Care.

I've got a great video we shot last time we were back. We were travelling on the autopista and someone in the left lane decided they needed to not only stop, but BACK UP, in the left lane, because they missed the turn-off for La Chorrera! Everyone was going at least 60 MPH - it was like a Chinese fire drill with vehicles all over the place trying to miss the idiot.

When I get home from work today I will send you a copy of it. There is a big snowstorm coming so we will either get off two hours early, or we will come in two hours late tomorrow.

We can't wait to move back to Panama.........
