Looking for Mountain Rental in Panama - Vic Finley

    Hi everyone.
My wife Carla and I are from South Carolina, USA. We hope to be moving to Panama very soon. If anyone knows of a low priced single family house for rent in the mountains, we would appreshiate information on it. I am a retired vetran and over 65. We will have to live on my SS and disability until my wife gets her SS in a few years.
We have gathered information on Panama for the past few years and know that's where we want to live. We are open to other areas also. We want a place with long term rental. Our email address is: panamareads@yahoo.com
    Thanks in advance,
    Vic & Carla Finley

hi and welcome , if you have never been to panama ? you need to do that before you make the move , everything is different in person , many come and then leave a few years later because it is so different , so a holiday is in order , it is a great place for some and not so much for others , the internet tells both the truth and lies , you need to see panama ,for example you say in the mountains , are you ready for 30 ft of rain a year ( boquete ) ? or are you talking about the mountains near Ocu that get 6 ft ? , come visit , find the area you like , talk to the locals about a rental , it will be a bunch cheaper if you can find a local house and can put up with there style of house , but if you rent long term then renovate it , a local house can be had for about $100 a month and up .

I have suggested this before. But, a good strategy is to stay in a hostel or pensione at first. This gives you an opportunity to look around and take your time. When you find a town or city you want to live in you will post notices that you are looking for a house to rent. It is hit or miss, but a decent place to live will come along. It is a good idea to see a place first hand before you make a commitment to it. Now, it may seem a little boring to stay in these cheap hotels. But, patience goes a long ways here when you are looking for a place to buy or rent.
