Thread: Intro - Hello

New to the Forum, never belonged to any other. Interested in possibly retiring in
Panama. Will be arriving on April 1st to do some exploration. Would like to know
where I could get a good road map. Plan on spending the majority of time in the
Azuero Penninsula. Also would like to know availability of use of ATMs.
All relevant info is appreciated.

We bought and used the National Geographic map. The map is lightly laminated and is easy to fold and clean.

But, and this is a big but, if there is any way possible for you to by a GPS, do so and put the map of Panama in it. It paid for itself 10 times over. I wouldn't attempt to drive in the City without it.

Oh, and there are ATM's everywhere. Have a Visa or Mastercard, I think you will have trouble with American Express. Be sure and let your bank know if you are using a debit card, and ask them about fees, they can be high.

Hey, Dave, my husband and I will also be starting our Panama adventure then -- April 2, to be exact. After 3 days in David we'll be in Las Tablas for 3 days, maybe if you're there we could get together for coffee and compare notes.
