    just booked

hi everyone, my name is Steve im 23 years old and from England, i have been to Panama before in 2008 from 3 months as my mother has moved there, and i have just booked to again to come over for xmas.
the last time i was there however i went without any knowledge of panama (i know a little silly) but hay thats the way it is.
this time i have tryed to find out as much as i can before i go because i spent half my stay last time trying to find things out like which bus takes you where and how much taxis really cost any way i will get to the point first i love to surf and although i found the beach i couldent find a single shop that sold surf boards?? (oh yes i was in David ,Chiriqui)
also im a keen guitar player and think it would be relly cool if i could find a place to buy one and save my self from draging a guitar all the from the uk
i guess what im asking is does anyone live near david that knows the area that could point me in the right direction??
i will be on this site for the next 5 weeks asking about panama and checking in
any help whould be much appreciated
    thanks
    from Steve

    WELCOME!

In Pedasi you can buy boards at "Mano Surf Shop". Andres the owner will take care of you...

There's a couple of places you can buy guitars in Panama: "La Nota" and
    Distribuidora Musical S.A.
    Via Argentina, Panama City, Panama
    +507 2690065 ‎

You should be able to find a few "cheap" guitars there.

    Keep on rocking!

Hey Steve, for somebody that loves to surf you are going to be in a key location. Being in David allows you easy easy easy access to the major bus terminal. If you are looking for some surfing and adventure I might suggest hopping the bus to Bocas del Toro. The popular Carib area that has a lot of surfing and adventure. Another suggestion would be to catch a bus and go up the west coast of Costa Rica. Lots of really good surfing along with many cool people. David allows you cheap access to both areas along with the rest of Panama by bus.

thats a very good and valid point i knever looked at it like that im guessing that its the biggest bus terminal for miles then ??
do you know the area well then??
i was thinking of going up to the bocas del toro area before and didnt get the chance. How long on the bus do think it is from david then?

Hi Steve, the terminal in David will get you anywhere you need to go very easily and cheaply. The bus to Bocas I believe is $3.50-$5 and is about 4 hours. You will need to get off at the Almirante stop and from there it is a $1 cab ride to the boat taxi for Isla Colon. The boat taxi is $5 and it takes about 20-30 min. To get into Costa Rica just catch the bus from David to Frontera/Paso Canoas (1 hour). Frontera/Paso Canoa (Frontera is Panama side, Paso Canoas is Costa Rica) is a border town/free zone that you will need to get stamped into and out of Costa Rica. After stopping in Panama and Costa Rica immigration walk across the street to the bus terminal and hop a bus. My personal favorite surf town in Costa Rica would be Dominical. If you want further info on the trip to Dominical just let me know. Since you are in David I would probably suggest checking out Las Lajas as well. Only 1.5 hours (aprox) and there is surfing and a nice beach there. Dirk (poster panamaproperties24) is located there. Send him a message and he can probably give you some good local info.

Note of caution: Paso Canoas is not a safe place, and generally whatever the street vendors/solicitors are selling you don't want.
