small business wanted - David, Volcan, ....

I am planing on moving with my family soon and try to start or take over a business to have a landing place setup. Already had first business experience. Guess, with that, I already paid my price for being naive about Panama. Now, I know why it would be best to marry a lawyer.

If you have an established foundation / corporation / small business (can be internet based, not capital intensive but incorporated) I'd be interested to hear from you.

Any tips and tricks you are willing to share are much appreciated.

I am also interested in the reforestation residency program. My motivation is to find a more peaceful life, more laid back than the big developed countries. My interest is in quality of life, not hiding, which seems to be the one and only thing everybody implies as soon as you mention that you have an interest in Panama. I am sure you all got that too at one time or another.

I am glad I found this forum and hope it will help me to connect with interesting people.

Hey speedy, no doubt a few people can help you out here. I believe the reforestation visa is still $80K but we shall see what happens when they make the upcoming changes? On a side note, marrying an attorney can be even more dangerous.

MRWOOHOO, do you have any idea as to when these changes are coming?

    80K + 20 Hectares

The last I read was that the $40K program is out the window and the requirement for $80K and been changed to have the additional requirement of buying 20 Hectares, which drives the total expenditure through the roof for most everybody considering that commitment.

Even at $0,50 a square meter, which is a fairly unrealistic price for a new Gringo in town, we are now looking at a minimum of $100K/$180K (depending on how the additional requirement is interpreted), but realistically much much higher numbers. A lot of cash to be tied up for an investment that might break even in 10 years or more. Let alone the impact of inflation, impracticality for families with schooling needs, ...
