    Hello from San Diego, CA

    Hi!

My husband and I are making a scouting trip to Panama this May. We're ultimately hoping to take a family sabatical and move to Panama for a couple of years.

Right now we're looking at Boquete, Volcan, Cerra Punta, Bocos del Toro as potential landing sites. We have 2 young children and I'm rather heat sensitive (hence the focus in the highlands). Just curious if anyone has any other recommendations on great areas in Panama to live for a couple of years.

    Thanks!!

    Kristin

Add "El Valle" to the list too! Great cool (temperature) place!

    Have fun!

I like El Valle plus pretty easy access to the city and beaches if you wish.

You wont know if you like a place until you spend time there, that is for sure. Especially if you are looking to purchase something a 2-3 day stay won't tell you much. The biggest factor in my mind in regarding a place to live was based on the locals in that area. This country is pretty diverse and you will get a different feel in different parts. Where I live the locals will buy you beers. I have stayed in other parts and have had locals beg for money on a Sunday morning so they can get drunk. A good location here is KEY. I have been living like a local in a typical neighborhood for about a year now. So far no safety or security issues.
