    Hi

    Hi everyone.

So, I'm really new here and my situation is very diferent.

    I am 57 years old

I have lived in Costa Rica for 30 years.

5 months ago I met a Beautiful lady in Panama on the Internet.

    She is 45 years old

She came to visit me in CR, and we are totally in love.

This is NOT a scam, I won't go into details but this lady is genuine.

    I can verify this.

We have plans to marry and maybe continue to live in Costa Rica, however, I would like to know what the rules are regarding residencey if I marry her and want to live in Panama.

    Does anyone know???

    Thanks in advance

Hi there Suncr, I am currently living with a Panamanian and we do have plans to get married. If you get married in Costa Rica you don't have any special residency in Panama. There is a pretty long list of stuff you need to get a residency in Panama even if you are marrying a Panamanian. You will need:
    1. Photocopies of your parents passports or birth certificates.
    2. Have a legalized (panama consulate in your home country) of your birth certificate.
    3. Have a legalized (panama consulate in your home country) certificate that you are not a criminal by your local police department.
    4. Have a legalized (panama consulate in your home country) proof that you are not currently married.
    5. Submit to a health exam.
    6. Possibly submit to a drug test.

There maybe other things you need to prove as well? If you have a residency in Costa Rica and plan to live there then don't bother with trying to get Panama residency. The tourist visa is good for 90 days. If you plan to get Panama residency there is some work involved.

Once you get things filed you get a temp ID you need to renew every 3 months. You can overstay the tourist visa and just pay some fines if things get stuck in various places, which I am sure they will.

    Best wishes, Marcus

    Hi,

    Thanks for your comments.

    Just a couple of points.

I'm British, hold a British passport.

Scotland Yard does NOT issue a police report.

I have NOT lived in England for 30 years, so I don't think it would

be possible to get one anyway.

I have permanent residence in Costa Rica.

I might be able to get a police report from Costa Rica.

What happens if both parents are no longer alive?

    Thanks for your help guys.

I should be going for my first visit to Panama around the third

    week of September.

Maybe we can get in contact. My base will be in

    Arraijan.

What I think it says in the law is a police report from the country in which you lived in the past 2 years.

I never had to show anything about my parents, but their names are of course stated right on the birth certificate.

I just got birth certificate and police report from my home country, appostile och stamps from the Panama embassy. The rest was done a few days in Panama.

My attorney charged me 250 up front. 250 more I will pay once I get my permanent stuff. Married, female attorney. Send me a private message with your email and I can refer you to her (she does not speak english).
