    My husband died a year ago just before Christmas 2007. I live on retirement from the state and social security and am considering a move to Panama. It is a little scarey when you are alone after 42 years of being a couple. Wonder if a woman alone would have any difficulty in Panama. I am sure that Mexico is not an option because even with my spouse I was grabbed when we were there on extended h

    Well.. there are large communities in Panama where retiring expats are found in huge numbers. I will say that 90% of Panama is more or less safe.. still you have to be careful wherever you go.. especially if you don't speak Spanish.. Then there are a few no-go areas.. like parts of Colon and Casco Viejo.. Which you should better avoid.. If you are alone...

    Rightly said . . . You need to be little careful, other wise the country is fine.
