    Best GPS in Panama is???

I have a Garmin unit and in 2009 bought a GPS map for it from, I think, PTY GPS. I want to get the update but am getting conflicting info about who to contact and how to get it. There is a dispute of some kind apparently and I don't know what's right and wrong. Steve is the guy who installed it for me years ago at his house near the city, now another guy has sent me an email saying he is a "thief" .... what is the opinion on this forum?'
Where should I go to get a good Panama GPS map??

Re: Best GPS in Panama is???

The following page is the orginal email I received this month and a man named Jerry Hall sent me a second message with an 800 number and a local Panama cell phone. His return email address though is at hotmail which isn't much of a business email and he said that Steve, the man who had installed the original map for me, was a thief.....I am looking for other opinions and information and MOST IMPORTANTLY which gps map to buy today.....here is the content of what he sent. Let me know if this helps you. Thanks.

Re: Best GPS in Panama is???

    I also got those emails:

    First email:

    Steve Magaric Terminated For Embezzelment

    December 2011

Steve Magaric terminated from PTY GPS for embezzlement and falsifying information. Working with Don Winner the local Panama Blogger who was promoting sales of the GPS maps were working together to diver fund from the Company.
Steve Magaric former employee of PTYGPS was terminated mid December for diverting funds from PTY GPS to his Australian Bank account. Working with a Panama Blogger Don Winner who was promoting the site and receiving payment from Steve Magaric until the owners audited the books. Missing over $100,000 from the companies paypal account where Steve Magaric had control as the webmaster.

    PTYGPS.COM
HAS MOVED TO PTY GPS GARMIN Panama MAPS $45 V 3.3.8
    PAMMA-GPS Panama Local 832-2465 / cell 6615-7441

    Second email:

    Don Winner Panama-Guide
    Finds Another Sucker
    Steve Magaric
    Panama January 2012

Don Winner a blogger in Panama is absolutely great at working stupid people into helping Don Winner make money. Don Winner of the Panama-Guide finds an unsuspecting sucker and convinces him to work with Don, but always at arms length. Don provides the media, the the sucker does the rest.

    Read here how it works.
    Exposing Scams - Zimbio

Example of Don Winners magic, Eddie Kahn who is now serving 10 years in a Federal Pen in Atlanta for Tax Fraud and evasion. Don convinced Eddie Kahn to be the front man for the newly arrived expats in Panama. Don Winner would sucker people in on his web site to buy into the Scams which were telling people you don't have to pay your taxes or you should buy this product such GPS MAPS.

Eddie Kahn you will remember help Wesley Snipes who is also now in a Federal Prison. Jerry Hall brought this to the attention of the authorities immediately Don Winner opened fire. Calling Jerry Hall everything from an idiot to a scammer. However, when confronted about any so called proof Don Winner claims he had, Don Winners favorite comment "I DON'T HAVE TIME TO VERIFY ANY OF MY ARTICLES". Why, because they are just made up, false and fabricated to suit his needs to scam people and drive unsuspecting people to his site. Where more scams can happen.

Another Example Tom McMurrain with the San Cristobal scams, Jerry Hall was successful in getting money returned to the people Tom McMurrain was scamming through phony land deals. Don Winner went after Jerry Hall because Jerry turned Tom McMurrain in to the Feds. Which Don Winner was profiting from the sales leads generated by his site from Tom McMurrain. The sentencing of Tom McMurrain and Eddie Kahn caused Don to loose thousands in scammed profits.

Now comes Steve Magaric, a not too bright programmer working with a Panamanian company who had developed GPS maps for Panama. Don Winner of the Panama-Guide would promote the site and Steve would divert the payment from the PayPal account to his smagaric@yahoo.com account then from there to Don Winner Panama-Guide. ARMS LENGTH DEALS, leaving Steve Magaric holding the Bag. It's the typical bate and divert scamming technique known by the US Department of Justice. Don Winner is an expert at this. He never actually is fully responsible he claims he is just doing the advertising......

Eric Jackson of the Panamanews continually reports on Don Winner and his escaped s, Don Winner copies Eric Jackson and Okke Onsteins article and claims them as his own.

Don Winner claims to have this following, however Jerry Hall indicated he had received many thanks for standing up against this little bully.

Don Winner once chased the wife and children of another news paper reporter who had shown the true character of Don Winner and the Panama-Guide with a teaser chasing his wife and daughter down the street.

Reading the Don Winner articles he does not appear to have a problem with Jerry selling this stuff so it's likely to be correct.

Re: Best GPS in Panama is???

So who to believe? Don Winner has provided a lot of good info in the past about stuff in Panama and so has Eric Jackson. I have seen them as different sources of good information. I know they don't agree with each other but this PTY GPS issue seems out of hand.
I simply want to know where to buy the best Panama GPS maps! What do you think??

Re: Best GPS in Panama is???

See this: "Jerry is simply trying to steal the business, to discredit Steve Magaric, and to position himself as the true supplier of GPS maps. However in truth and fact the true "brains" behind their operation was Steve Magaric"

Jerry Ray Hall - Avoid Like The Plague - Lying Once Again (Go Figure - That's What He Does) - Panama Guide

Since Don writes that he is trying to steal business he acknowledges that Jerry has equal rights to the software.

Don would have accused him of STEALING the software if that's what happened.

Hey BalaBeach, I think that the site you have linked to is not a real site, it's one that was created by the man who is spamming, could be wrong.....I have gone back and read the different blogs and since Steve was the one who initially installed and supported my map I have NO reason to think he's a hacker. I am disappointed in all the 'politics' involved here because what I really want is people's opinions of the best gps map for Panama!

Re: Best GPS in Panama is???

The website, panama-guide.us.com is owned by none other than "Dr." Jerry Ray Hall, AKA Jerry David Ray Hall, Jerry Ray, Jerry David and any other names as convenient. Apart from being a "doctor" Mr Hall is also a lawyer, (Harvard no less), who is purportedly a member of the Alabama Bar Association - which of course, is not true.

Hall has had an obsession about Don Winner's site panama-guide.com since circa 2007 when Hall's track record of scamming, threating people and lying starting being exposed by Winner.

Hall is also a very successful businessman, (they all are), and operates a company, ADR Service International Inc., which amazingly earned a profit of circa $28,000 in one year and increased that to $34.5 million three years later.

Hall also found the time in his busy schedule to arrive in Panama as a "missionary" while he managed to find time to scam.

Not wanting to waste time, he also became involved in politics in Texas:
    Jerry Hall For Congress
where that became a concern in the local media:
Rockwall voters: Know your candidate | Opinion Blog | dallasnews.com

Overall, not an individual worth wasting time over or visiting his "obsession website" at panama-guide.us.com. The word sociopath seems to come to mind - can't think why...

Re: Best GPS in Panama is???

I have no idea what's going on with all of this! That site says " FORMALLY PTYGPS", but PTYGPS.com is still up and running. There is a third site now selling the map also. And, where's Steve? I believe he was the original programmer on the map. Does he still live up the hill? (maybe he's off riding his motorcycle or fishing with Jeremy Shockey and Don Winner??) Very confusing! And where is Manny Noriega? Anyone seen him sneaking around Santa Clara or San Carlos lately?? Or is he still stuck drinking Seco in Gamboa? Damn, I miss being in Panama!!

I have been a customer of PTY GPS for years now and I have spoken to Steve on several occasions. I have no reason to doubt his honesty. I updated my map this past weekend from his site and it works perfectly. This is posted on the PTY GPS website:

"Recently there has been a scam/spam campaign indicating that ptygps.com has been hijacked and offers an alternative web site to purchase Panama GPS maps. We wish to advise that this claim is not true. We recommend the emails be treated as you would any other obvious scam/spam and delete them immediately. Please do not click any of the links or visit the web site suggested in the scam/spam email. Legally action is underway to deal with this matter."

It looks like Jerry has stepped down as PRESIDENT and TREASURER from the company now. I don't think one would do that if one had ownership. The plot thickens!

Thanks TennVol, I think I'll go back to Steve myself. He seems to have been caught in a disastrous business breakdown and was the brains behind the mapping.
Appreciate everyone who gave ideas on this.

Isn't hiring people with brains more important than having a brain? If in fact Steve cannot show that he owns the company and the exclusive right to the product then stay away. Ask for stock certificates (with an old feel to them).

I second TennVol's comment. It appears quite obvious that Mary was pleased with her prior dealings and the product has value. It also appears that another party tried to take control of it.

Well, according to the public registry Jerry has been removed as president and treasurer from the company, either by himself or someone else. That is not taking control, but stepping away if the act was executed by Jerry. Usually if you are president and treasurer you own the damn thing, but it would not make much sense to be removed from the records then.

Given Mr. Winner's previous writings about Jerry, I am sure Steve could have stabbed all of Jerry's animals and kids to death and still count on the full support. All parties involved appear highly deranged -- run on adrenaline and anger.

I was asking specifically are you serious about that particular post, especially this: "Ask for stock certificates (with an old feel to them)."

But in general, are you serious about any of your posts, or are you just trolling?

I see your profile is relatively new, perhaps you are Jerry (AKA the "real" PTY GPS owner), or possibly Oke. Regardless of who you really are, I suspect you are trolling....
