Thread: Retire wants to relocate but where with good fishing

I'm new and have been reading a lot and piece together answers here and there bit nothing actually fits my situation although it probably has been asked many times.
We live in Florida and I had Pacific Beachside property in Golfito Costa Rica that ended up in a squatter dispute for many years and a lot of $ so I'm pretty gunshy about buying again in Panama.

Here is what I'm looking for. I don't need to be oceanside BUT I want to be somewhere that has great fishing. I'm not into the big Marlin stuff but Dorado, grouper, rooster, snapper and the occasional offshore would be nice. Where would you guys suggest looking? And is fshing charters so expensive in Panama. I can't afford $500+ a couple times a month.

We are both collecting decent Social Sec so I'm looking for a decent lifestyle, good fishing, not way out in the boonies but not in big city and since we love gardening, a house works better than a condo situation but open to ideas.

Perhaps near David. It's much cheaper if you get the local fishermen to take you fishing.

I agree with jonr, David might be a good option. cheap, has a hospital and a decent supermarket and a mall. you are 20 minutes to fishing with out the cost of being on the water.

Sorry abut Costa Rica and squatters. In costa rica it only takes 6 months to claim a piece of land by making small improvements, in Panama it is a 12 year rule. You have more klegal right to own property in Panama than any other central American country. The Costa Rica scam is common, don't feel like the lone ranger!
