Hi, My mother and I will be looking to rent by Dec. 1st. Our plan is to investigate as much of Panama as possible and will take our time doing so. That being said, for the first year I would like to stay within a 2 to 3 hour distance from Panama City to make it easier getting visas and other legal matters settled. Initially, the idea of the El Valle de Anton region seemed (and still does) perfect but trying to find rentals in that area has been a bit difficult. We don't need luxury or high-end, and most likely couldn't find that with a budget of $800 a month. We have been told that the best way to find a rental is to look while already there. And having a Panamanian friend acting on our behalf in getting a fair price. But I would like the assurance of having something already in place and we don't have any Panamanian friends as of yet (but hope to!). We are looking for a higher elevation for cooler temps. We will need a 2 bedroom that will allow 2 indoor cats. What we absolutely want is some outside living space with a view. Either a balcony or patio but a beautiful view is very important to us. We would like to be within an hour's drive of a really nice beach if possible. I've heard Santa Clara is quite a nice beach but can have rip-tides. Does anyone know of a beach where rip-tides aren't a problem or not so prevalent?
If anyone can give me some guidance I would greatly appreciate it. I have been reading numerous blocs and forums trying to glean as much info as possible and it can be overwhelming. I have been anticipating this move for so long and now that it has arrived, I am incredibly happy. I just don't want to sign a lease and not be in love with where I am staying.
Much Thanks!
Corinna
