Recommendation section/ thread

I took the following from the Blinds thread as I did not want to derail the original

Maybe Panama does need an Angies List. "Doctor Reviews & Contractors Ratings - Find a Doctor or General Contractor | Angie's List"

The threads asking for a Lawyer, Bank (or help opening an account), Contractor seem pretty common on the forum. The problem is the threads are all over. What about a section or thread (that gets stickied) that cover's services you recommend or to avoid

I don't think the current forum layout is the best for this but its in place already and free. If it was a section you would have a single thread for each profession. Lets say plumbers for example. Any plumber you have dealings with goes in the same thread with a little information.

If another user has the same experience with the same plumber they can "thank" the original poster as a way of showing they agree and adding weight to that plumbers reputation

Not sure how to handle it if one user creates a post with a Recommend=Yes and another for a No on the same plumber. As I mentioned this forum is not the perfect format but its here, free and has the correct audience.

Just an idea as I know how hard it can be to find a reputable service even in the US

the only prolbem with your idea is all threads get hijacked , so you might start out plumbing and end up move to montana , just the way it is ,

It is just a liability to recommend people in Panama. I have yet to come across a recommendation that worked flawlessly year after year. They just lack consistency, can be great one year, then not a single phone call returned next. I just recommend an attorney and the cost had gone from $500 to $1250 over a 4 year old period for the same service. Very solid guy, but something is missing in the brains here. There are no 5-15 % increases and such, can go up 100-200 % overnight and they have no shame when doing it.
