I know there are lots of small tremors but what do they say about the chances for a big one? When was the last big one and are there any critical fault lines nearby?

Have you ever been standing at a place where you could see two of the five world seas and it was not a fault line?
I know there is a fault line running all the way from Antarctica to the North Pole alongside the Pacific.
I should have phrased my question concentrating on predictions of a BIG ONE happening in Panama.
Two years ago one lane of the Cinta Costera dropped into a sink hole so I think a minor shake at the right location will work just fine. The depth seems to be very important, more so than the Richter number. Most of the other roads seem to be readily enabled mud slides given how fast the pot holes appear.
The art of earthquake prediction isn't very far along. No one can predict earthquakes. They've tried all sorts of stuff...sensors, fault movement, and even watching animals; and nothing has proven accurate enough to predict. Do you know where the biggest known earthquake in the USA occurred? (Hint: It was in the midwest).
everyone living in those well built hirise condos in the city will be the first to know , I have always thought that base jumping might be a good hobby if you live in one . even if it does not fall down , we know the fire dept is good to about the 4th floor .
I have suggested to many Panamanians that two well places hydrogen bombs would do the trick. Then we can go out fishing 200 miles from the coast and come back to a functioning country. Now that you bring up the quakes I really want to wait for the 100 story government building to be built where the US embassy was before on Av Balboa. Then move the entire government into the building quickly, staged occupancy whatever, just get it done fast. Then please --- if Earth would rip out the best hip shake since the Haitian building codes were taken for a test drive in 2010 and complete the fkn bay expansion with what they aim to discuss it in.
I think this will answer your question. Is a Major Earthquake Looming for Panama and its Canal? | LiveScience
Naked is correct, proper instruction in base jumping is a good idea!!
Oh no, more bad news for TOC purchasers. Didn't The Trumpster kit himself out with a gold plated parachute after 9/11 for a hasty exit from his NYC headquarters?
Don't forget the dormant volcanos in Panama. They could always "awaken" and provide some entertainment!
That article is scary if indeed if these highrise condos are not properly built to withstand a serious tremor. The reason I started this thread is that I am to move onto the 26th floor of a condo shortly. Maybe a couple of those escape parachutes should be on my shopping list?
