Thread: Import duties on items sent to Panama?

Hi all,

I want to buy some scuba gear on Ebay and have it shipped to my brother in FL. My brother would then ship it to me in Panama. Is there a maximum declared amount after which you start paying import taxes/customs? Does anyone know the duty rates?

Should be $49.99 including shipping that is the limit.

Nice, these are very generous import duties. Brazil, the limit is 50 including shipping and anything above is taxed at 60%

Also the freight is going to be very expensive. I had car parts sent here for my PT Cruiser and I was hit with a 25% duty on the amount over $40. I learned the hard way. Now I have things sent by my daughter and have her wrap it like a present and put a note in there wishing one of us a happy birthday.

Duty rates vary - there is a list somewhere online. Often around 20%.
